Q&A about me eating raw…..

When did you begin eating raw food as a conscious part of your diet?

I’ve always enjoyed some raw foods but didn’t start really eating much more than a salad or raw snack until this year after being diagnosed with cancer and researching how to help myself heal. I had been vegeterian/vegan in the past but always ate too many cooked foods and too many potatoes, pastas, breads and cheeses. (foods that I now know are the glue type foods that don’t do me any good)

Why choose raw food––lifestyle, medicinal/health, social, or other reasons?

Initially I choose raw for the medicinal purposes but now I am enjoying the social aspects of meeting other raw foodists.

How much raw food constitutes part of your total food intake on a daily or weekly basis?

I’m still learning how to shop and using up some products in my home so I would say 98% or more. Most days I’m 100% raw. (products like nut butters and salad dressings that aren’t raw but they will be gone soon)

How did you get started?

I started juicing and eating more and more raw/healthy foods then I did a 30 day juice fast. That really made me realize how good I could feel and how I could live off only raw fruit and veggies.

What foods do you eat?

I eat veggies, sprouts, seeds, nuts and fruit. There are an amazing amount of recipes and books out there to help give you ideas.

What do you enjoy about eating raw food?

I feel great! I’ve lost 50 lbs this year and I wasn’t even setting out to lose weight. I love the taste and variety of foods.

Any dislikes?

Sometimes it’s challenging to go out to eat but I’m getting better at that. At first I missed corn chips and making sandwiches but I’ve learned to make my own chips and bread in my dehydrator. Now I don’t really miss anything.

What else do you want people to know about raw food?

You can do this and feel great. I’ve been told many times recently that I glow and that feels really nice. The food is yummy, satisfying and you never feel weighed down or bad about what you’ve just eaten.
